What will Charlotte's $405 million in bonds build?
Charlotte voters decide three city bonds on November 3: $125 million for affordable housing, $20 million for neighborhood improvement and $280 million for transportation. The city says the bonds need no property tax rate increase. (The Charlotte Post, October 23, 2026; the Post's own editorial position is its opinion and is not repeated here)
Your numbers
About 108,000 Black North Carolinians said they were registered but did not vote in 2024, compared with about 83,000 in 2020. (Census Bureau survey estimate)
Who pays
Yes, local tax dollars: the city repays the bonds over time. Residents weigh what the bonds build against the debt; SourceLine takes no side.
Who decides
Charlotte voters on November 3, then the City Council, which decides where the money goes.
